This was my response to a member who personally reached out to me;

“I have been in and out over the last month, (mid December) give or take…. I’ve been super busy with 2 single ladies from my community. One is 87 and has memory issues coupled with hearing and vision problems (macular degeneration). The other is her 73 year old companion of almost 30 years who had a TIA prior to Christmas and at a time when her daughter had a planned vacation to Africa. As you may expect, she’s not as “sharp” as she was prior to the TIA. After the daughter returned from Africa, she promised to make arrangements to get them into an assisted living/memory care facility, which she has, and things have all come together. The daughter will be here on Friday, the 23, and (the girls) out of the community on Sunday. The plan is that they have a hotel room in Ft Myers on Sunday night with the flight out (back to Minnesota) at 6a Monday morning. Yes, I’ve been busy, busy, busy but that’s all on me because I wanted the daughter to be able to enjoy the vacation with her husband, 2 college age children and the 2 HS children and I said I could and would help.“

Also, I left Michigan for Florida early because I received word that my now 105 year old friend from church was not “doing well”. I visit her a least once every week making some type of food for her/the family (her daughter, son-in-law, grandson and part-time caregiver). As life happens, Miss Amy celebrated her 105th birthday on 12/31 while her 80 something year old son-in-law made plans to transition his wife, her daughter into hospice. Sadly, her 82 year old daughter died the next day at approximately 4:30p on 01/01/2026.
