Just heard the sad news that that great singer of the late 1950s and 60s, Bobby Vee (real name Robert Velline) passed away on 24th October at the age of 73. He owed his career to a tragic twist of fate when, aged just 15, he was plucked from the audience at Fargo, north Dakota on 4th February 1959 to take the place of Buddy Holly who died the previous day in that dreadful plane crash in the wastes of snow-covered Iowa. Bobby may be gone but his records, e.g. "Rubber Ball", "Take Good Care Of My Baby" and especially "The Night Has A Thousand Eyes", will live on forever. R.I.P. Bobby
