Are all my friends in Florida staying warm
I know a lot of the houses down there have no furnaces it was 0.
Degrees here in Pennsylvania but we are used to it I use three different heat sources
Propane heaters in every room
A wood stove in the basement
And of course a heating oil furnace
By Cody8789 [Ignore] 28,Jan,26 11:56 other posts
Most of the houses built here in south Florida has a hvac system, it cools the house in the summer and warms the house in winter, so we don’t use heat furnaces or portable heaters. I thought all homes around the country had that capacity.
By phart [Ignore] 28,Jan,26 14:48 other posts
I remember when I was young being told by folks in florida they had no heat systems as it never got cold there. jet stream musta changed a bit
By Lookatmine2 [Ignore] 28,Jan,26 15:46 other posts
Nope. Homes in the high desert of the Great Basin are normally heated with propane or natural gas central heating furnaces. Many supplement with either pellet or wood stoves.

In the Midwest, a lot of homes built in the 50s and 60s had all electric heat, which is expensive as of late. Many older homes built prior to the 1950s had fuel oil heating. Many of those have been upgraded to propane or natural gas now. Some have central wood burning heating that operate just like a propane furnace or even exterior wood burners that heat water for radiant heating.

Those dipshits in Sacramento running California are forcing all new construction to heat with electric only, without bothering to upgrade the grid to handle the extra demand. Wood stoves are being banned in a lot of areas. There are going to be a lot of disappointed people who live in the Sierras and in the north who are going to be miserable come winter and the power goes out, which it always does whenever the wind picks up.

We lived in a house during the 1970s that used radiators with hot water heated by electricity. You could hear the water flushing through the pipes when it operated. We learned real fast not to touch the pipes during the winter.
By Cody8789 [Ignore] 28,Jan,26 16:29 other posts
Where I live the wind has nothing to do with the power going out, we have had hurricanes with over 100 mile an hour winds and still have power, the difference is,,, there is no over the ground electric, it’s all underground. They only turn the power off in the main city where there are still power poles, but our electric feeds directly from the main power plant.
By phart [Ignore] 28,Jan,26 18:14 other posts
we have a fireplace to burn wood but use electric baseboard heat primarily. if power goes out we have kerosene heaters ,the wood fireplace and propane portables as well.
Yes electric is expensive. BUT we don't have a propane truck pulling in, dumping 400 bucks worth unexpectedly either ,and we have not had to do any maintance or repairs on our electric heat in over 50 years. The neighbors, since 1989 when they moved into a older house, they are on their 5th central heat and air system, the last 1 costing over 9000 dollars. so a little electric over the winter months is not to bad compared to that. plus they have a propane bill!

The houses that were built back in the thirties thru fifties were build so much better then nowadays
By phart [Ignore] 28,Jan,26 23:15 other posts
alot of the "houses" being built around here are what are referred to by contractors as minimum code housing. Concrete slab with all the plumbing and electrical run up thru the concrete floor. Heaven forbid you have any issues, or you will have to clean out 3 rooms and be vacuuming up concrete dust for the next 20 years.2 foot on center roof truss's, built by mexicans over the course of 2 weeks. Some near my family farm about 50 miles from here are going on 4 years old now and have leaking roofs and busted plumbing. homeowners are having a tough time getting the builder to stand behind their work.they are tearing down old farm houses fast as they can. shame, it would require less man hours, less inspections, less cost to refurb the old houses.
By bella! [Ignore] 29,Jan,26 06:04 other posts
If I read your post correctly, you’ve speaking about contractors who get what you feel is a substandard house built in a short period of time by, as you point out, Mexicans. Hmmmm…….so what race and or ethnicity is the architects and who is the contractor, plumbers and electricians? Just curious.
By phart [Ignore] 29,Jan,26 08:38 other posts
The few people running the show that i encountered with the development near my familys farm are Americans that sub out all the work. When ice came to town a few months ago, there was no work done on the site for about a week.

Hey, my friend, please explain to this knucklehead why you’re heating the basement. Thank you!
By phart [Ignore] 29,Jan,26 08:39 other posts
Uh, we used to do that as well. Simple physics. Heat rises. You build a nice warm fire in the basement den fireplace, open the stairway door and it is a heat duct.Plus the heat rises thru the uninsulated floor as well.

This might be the “marketing tool” that Anheuser-Busch needs to entice men into drinking Bud Light once again.

You are probably not a beer drinker (I prefer wine) but, FYI, Bud Light draft is the most popular beer in almost all restaurants and bars.

If I drink, my “go to” choices are Michelob Ultra OR white wine. I lean toward the sweeter wines like Reisling or my favorite, Piesporter.

Bud Light is not beer. It’s a travesty, merely a cheap imitation of what beer is supposed to be. It’s piss water right out of the container, before it goes through your kidneys. Even before that pretentious weirdo became its spokes “person,” I would not have even used it to put out my hair if it was on fire.

The main reason it became as popular as it was, aside from the cheap price, was marketing. Quality, body, and flavor has had absolutely nothing to do with why it was at the top of the heap. It’s effect beer; people drink it for the effect, not for the taste or mouth feel.

And then, they had to promote up a Peter Principle candidate to head the Bud Light division, someone who thought she was smarter than anyone else in the room.

Anheuser-Busch got what it deserved when it entrusted the fate of perhaps the most profitable product in their line-up to a 4th wave feminist social justice hack.

She was definitive proof that education does NOT equate to intelligence.
By bella! [Ignore] 20,Jan,26 10:47 other posts
When you referred to Bud Light as being a cheap imitation, do I understand you to mean that you feel it is an inferior imitation? I was not aware that Bud Light was priced less than regular Budweiser.
By Lookatmine2 [Ignore] 24,Jan,26 16:02 other posts
I mean cheap as in it is a low class Walmartian grain beverage. I’m not going to call it beer, because it is not beer.

Calling is “beer” is like calling a Yugo a “car."
By Cody8789 [Ignore] 24,Jan,26 17:50 other posts
The main difference between Budweiser and Bud Light is that Bud Light is a lower-calorie, lower-alcohol version of Budweiser, featuring fewer carbs and a lighter taste, while Budweiser has a higher ABV (5% vs. 4.2%) and richer flavor, making Bud Light the popular low-cal option. Budweiser offers a fuller, malty taste, while Bud Light is known for its crisp, easy-drinking quality with only 110 calories and 3.4g carbs per can.
--------------------------------------- added after 105 seconds

I drink bud light because I want the lesser calories to keep up my figure unlike all the fat beer belly guys that drink bud
By Lookatmine2 [Ignore] 25,Jan,26 03:53 other posts
It’s not the calories in beer that give men guts. It’s the female hormones in the barley used to make beer. The grains used to make beer contain phytoestrogens, a plant hormone that imitates female hormones.

Moderate beer consumption tend not to cause problems, including hormonal imbalances in men, but excessive consumption can cause hormonal issues, including gynecomastia in men.

Plus, beer contains a lot of sugars, too. Not all the sugars are consumed by the yeast during fermentation. Yeast begins to die off when the alcohol level reaches around 12-15% ABV.

Diabetics should not be drinking beer.
By bella! [Ignore] 25,Jan,26 03:33 other posts
A new word, eh? “Walmartian”, now that’s funny!

I’ve always labeled myself as a “cheap date”….. I’m a cheap date because I limit myself to 2 beers. Seriously, 2 beers and I am “loopy”. I’ve loved the taste of beer ever since I was a young girl. A hundred years ago I recall my Pops enjoying a cold beer on a hot Saturday afternoon after he mowed the lawn. The glass was icy cold and contained this golden liquid with a frothy head. Sometimes I would ask for a taste and from time to time he indulge me. Pure YUM! On my river cruise in Europe, while in Germany I was excited to try their beer….. oh my goodness, they serve beer chilled to 38 to 40 degrees F. Yuck!

I understand why I get loopy on 2 beers, it’s because I enjoy the taste and when it’s icy cold, it goes down so easily. There’s no “nursing” beer for me, no siree Bob! And I do prefer to drink Michelob Ultra for the same reason Cody8789 likes to drink Bud Light, less carbs, less calories.
By Lookatmine2 [Ignore] 25,Jan,26 03:43 other posts
I used to like beer. I’ve tried all kinds, from an English beer called Old Peculiar, to San Miguel in the Philippines, and a big bunch in between.

Sadly, my beer drinking days are over. I have to limit anything made with wheat or barley to hardly any, because is makes me hurt all over. I can’t even drink bourbon anymore, and I love a good 80 proof bourbon.

I’m trying sake now, and I’m going to see what rums and tequilas do for me. Wine is fine, especially reds. I love a good cabernet!
By Cody8789 [Ignore] 25,Jan,26 18:36 other posts
I also enjoy my beer very cold, and the first one goes down in a matter of minutes, then I slow down and also order a shot of Baileys to go with my beer, it brings the taste of the beer to a different level.
By bella! [Ignore] 26,Jan,26 03:20 other posts
I hear ya! I hate to admit it, when the beer is icy cold, I will GUZZLE that first one down but have to be more careful and ladylike with the second because two is my limit! 😁
By CAT52! [Ignore] 25,Jan,26 10:55 other posts
And, yet, the Yugo got you where you wanted to go. I live in a hot climate year round. I don’t drink cold beer to cool off. I prefer tea or lemon flavored water, but, most of my beer drinking friends enjoy a light beer to drink while cutting the grass or lounging by the pool. I don’t mean a “light” beer because of calories. I mean a beer that won’t hit you after a six pack.
BTW, why do go here?
“-Busch got what it deserved when it entrusted the fate of perhaps the most profitable product in their line-up to a 4th wave feminist social justice hack.

And, why the fuck do you even care? Every time someone has a differing opinion on every petty or trivial little itsy-bitsy subject, there you are, arguing a pointless argument, as if your opinion on every little goddamned teeny-tiny lame-ass subject on the planet is the only one that matters. There's no exact global number, but many thousands of Yugos (Zastava Koral) remain, especially in their home region, with around 60,000 still in use in Serbia alone, while in the U.S. they're mostly collector's items with only a few hundred likely left, and just a handful on UK roads.

One man can disagree with your beliefs or ideas and you guys just accept it as a “bro” thing. But, let a woman disagree with you and suddenly, you are highly insulted. You are all pussies. You can’t take it. It’s like a woman is questioning your manhood.
Okay, I didn’t like what you had to say so, now, anything I say or said is stupid or petty. Some hunk of man you are, but, I bet that if you ever get kicked between your legs, nothing will happen.

Shocked! Shocked, I am, that you have somehow managed to see past the end of your own nose in order to notice something! Do you know why yours is the only one I come back at? It’s because you are the only one who feels compelled to try to correct me, the few times I comment.

Cry me a river, Karen. No one asks you to butt in with your negative commentary. No one has ever asked you to “correct” their opinions, but there you are, every time, Ms. Annie Buzzkill, inserting yourself with your self-righteous attitude, as if your opinion is the only one that matters.

And, not surprisingly, you’ve whipped out your misogyny card and are waving it around, yelling, “Woman hater! We have a woman hater over here!”

I knew it was just a matter of time before you started crying “woman hater” simply because you have no valid arguments.

Leftist, thy name is predictability!

You’re nothing more but an overblown Socialist troll with an inflated sense of self-righteous moral superiority.

As for me, I think it’s hilarious that you get an eyeful of the head of my ERECT PENIS every time you post another one of your patronizing comments in answer to any one of my posts! That’s my dick you’re forced to see every time you feel compelled to get in the last word!

LOOK AT MY DICK! LOOK AT IT!

Now, I’m ready for your next post, an ad hominem attack about penis size or some other random characteristic of mine, because that is the fallback position Leftists always go to when they have no valid counterpoint to make!

Some people, mostly teenagers, think that’s a normal flavor for American lagers.

Skunk beer is beer that is either old or has been exposed to heat or light. Think Miller High Life in the clear bottles.

Not all Continental lagers are immune to that, either. Pilsner Urquell in the green bottles gets skunky after a while.

Yea I was bullied alot in school by fellow students, shunned as slow and stupid by the teachers.
SO yea,I know the frustration all to well of how it feels to grow up as "that kid" at the back of the room.
School bullying has been a issue for decades and if these folks that claim to want to make positive changes really meant it,they would do something about it.
Cyber school, It worked for the plandemic, why not keep on?
MUCH cheaper in the long run as the homeless issue could be partly solved by housing people in the old school buildings, busing would no logner be needed. School lunches, would be the PARENTS problem, not the taxpayers and etc. A win win for everyone.
Less school shootings and at the very least, less kids in 1 place to get harmed.
But no, just delete the gun and the whole world will be perfect and kumbaya will be the world anthem.

By bella! [Ignore] 07,Jan,23 12:43 other posts
You have got to stop that.

• Children needn't be bullied by children, teachers or parents.
• Teachers needn't be bullied by the children they're attempting to teach.
• Parents need to be more involved in parenting their children because it's NOT THE JOB OF THE TEACHER to babysit your li'l hooligans 8 hours a day while you're getting high.
By phart [Ignore] 07,Jan,23 12:55 other posts
I can agree.Parents always chunk the kid in the school or day care and go on with their day as if they don't have kids.
Then something like this happens and everyone is like,"HOw could this happen"?
Well, gee, just as being discussed in another thread I mentioned i would like to see the country go back to the ways of the 50's and this is 1 of the reasons why. School shootings were rare.Parents, namely the mother, were involved in the teaching, raising and caring for the children.
By #610414 07,Jan,23 18:55
The United States had no mass school shootings that fit our criteria until 1940, when a junior high school principal killed the superintendent, the high school principal, the district business manager, and two teachers, before attempting suicide, because he thought he was going to be fired at the end of the school year.

Guns were less common and people didn't use agun to settle an argument.
By dgraff [Ignore] 09,Jan,23 10:55 other posts
Really what about the Wild West a gun was used to settle just about everything and gun were way more popular back then compared to now and everyone carried a gun back then including the two bit whores the store owner the black smith and so on
By Andthisisme [Ignore] 07,Jan,23 14:46 other posts
Are you seriously justifying someone being shot for belittling someone. If this is a common view in the US, that explains a lot.
By phart [Ignore] 07,Jan,23 14:57 other posts
It is not the belittling or the "fill in the blank" that gets most people to a point of wanting to do harm.It is the lack of other actions being taken or the lack of any actions taken doing any good for the problem.
You get to a point in your life sometimes where you are fed up and can NOT take it anymore. In the case of a 6 year old wanting KILL or harm with a gun, I would say exposure to video games and the killing on them may have been a negative influence.
People for decades have tried to explain that violent music, violent tv shows and games, have a negative effect on the people. Prompting violent behaviors and habits. But the liberals call it freedom of expression and whine to their lawyers, as our kids continue to play games and watch violent movies and listen to music that encourages violence without accountability.
By Andthisisme [Ignore] 08,Jan,23 04:23 other posts
The child must be/ have been seriously disturbed in some way to even think of picking up a gun and shooting his teacher and I do have to wonder to what extent so many .shoot ‘em up’ video games can affect a child/person. At 6 he should not be allowed access to such games by retailers or online sites or his parents. But we know that really doesn’t work.
The causes of the immense gun violence in aThe US has been debated and argued over for years and there will never be a agreement on how to deal with it.
You have your views on gun control, which I respect but totally disagree with, and. Ihave mine, which you totally disagree with. So the shootings and often killings just keep going on.
By bella! [Ignore] 08,Jan,23 05:44 other posts
I can agree with you on the point that children should not have access to violent video games HOWEVER these games must be "alluring" when the child watches their parent(s) relax by playing violent and/or aggressive video games after a long day/work week.

My guess is that a 6 year old child is not able to process what he did. He is not able to process what happens when you shoot someone or something with a real gun, that they are not able to get up, dust themselves off because they have a spare life or two. Regardless of how anyone feels about guns and gun violence in the United States, it circles back to current culture. Is it only that the mindset of Americans is fucked up and that we have access to guns? I kinda think that our society/the world is fucked up and folks living elsewhere need to be "creative" with the way they "accomplish" their dastardly deed.
By #610414 08,Jan,23 08:51

Yes, in the US a gun is used every minute to settle even the most minor disputes. This country has more Road Ra gf e than the rest of the world put together. You have to remember, our " Constitution" says we can.

Well buildings and cars were burned over someone getting a knee put on their neck,no one thought much of it.
By #610414 07,Jan,23 18:45
Yeah, Dgraff, all teachers are crap and make their student's life miserable.

Absolutely I agree we had a gay teacher that used to try and lure blonde hair blue eyed boys to his closet with candy bars do you think that was appropriate behavior for a teacher
By #610414 07,Jan,23 19:38
No. Do you think every teacher is like that or every school has one? Get some perspective,

It happens more than we know all I’m saying is screen the teachers better look into their past find out what they’re sexual preferences are if they’re gay switch them to a girls gym teacher or something like that it’s the parents fault because they don’t get involved in school affairs enough just look at the crap they are teaching the poor kids I’m not asking for much just a little policy reform

A deeper screening of potential teachers and finding out their sexual preferences? And where does that stop? Should Microsoft, Ford Motor Company, electricians, steel workers, etc, be required to "disclose" their sexuality? Sorry, dgraff, that's a CRAZY idea.

They ask that question when you go to jail so they know we’re they are placing you it’s a simple yes or no question

I mean if you are sending your teen age boy to school would you feel comfortable knowing he has a gay teacher I wouldn’t
By #610414 09,Jan,23 10:11
That, Dgraff, is ridiculous. Sexual preference shouldn’t be part of any vetting of a teacher, or anyone else. You are bisexual. You think you should be allowed to drive a wrecker? You have to transport MEN and women. Are they safe? The “crap” they teach is approved and insisted upon by the local school board. Perhaps I don’t understand what you mean. Could you be more specific? I always thought math, science, English, civics, phys.Ed., were harmless enough.

What about critical race theory and the fact that they no longer say the pledge of allegiance anymore and they teach the children negative numbers my niece showed me and I told her to wait till she is older and try adding negative numbers in her check book and see what happens

I own my wrecker and the shop and all the tools so I don’t see any one trying to stop me the costumer can either ride with me and trust i will behave or walk it’s that simple

Here is the article.

The problem is that the parent(s) did secure the gun properly.

My bad, an incomplete thought, a better composed thought and sentence would have been as follows;

The problem is not about US gun problem, the problem is that the parent(s) did NOT secure the gun properly.

All my guns are under lock and key except for the 45 I’m carrying
By #610414 07,Jan,23 18:59
Yeah, because you never know when a six year old will try to kill you.
By #610414 07,Jan,23 18:38
I say the US has a gun problem. Now read how all these John Wayne wannabes give you excuses why it's ok for a six year old is in position of a gun, why he had a reason to shoot the teacher, and why the teacher is at fault.

By phart [Ignore] 09,Jan,23 14:39 other posts
Well to a point we have a gun problem.
If we could get the guns away from the crooks the rest of us could keep ours locked up until we wanted to target shoot or something.
IF criminals were deterred or dealt with, we wouldn't feel the need to have a gun on our side so to speak.
