Here’s a question for those that cook, have you purchased and used the garlic that is peeled and packaged? I really do not like jarlic, that crap that is sold on the grocer’s shelf and labeled claiming that it’s minced garlic in olive oil.

The problem I have is that I buy a bulb of garlic and use a clove or four for whatever I’m making and keep the rest on my counter, out of the sun. When I decide to use it again, I don’t think that it has the same punch that it originally had. Here’s where a YouTuber’s assertion comes into my mind. I see this short video asserting that the peeled and packaged cloves can kept longer by freezing them. She says they can quickly be defrosted and crushed or minced which renders better results versus the jarlic.
By CAT52! [Ignore] 14,May,26 15:52 other posts
I use a lot of garlic and I hate the minced in oil. I try to buy just enough to cook with but the left over I peel and freeze
By bella! [Ignore] 14,May,26 18:32 other posts
Thank you, why didn’t I think of that!?

Actually, the already peeled garlic cloves looked much bigger than anything I’ve ever had on any bulb I’ve purchased. But I’ve always grabbed a smaller bulb because I don’t use it quick enough. Bottom line, I’m glad to know that garlic can be put in the freezer.

I remember all of that stuff with the exception of the mosquito truck, the ditto machine and the polio shot (maybe I do remember the shot. Some kids were vaccinated in their upper arm, me, I was vaccinated in my upper left thigh)

Ah, nostalgia
In the 1970s, many progressive people in the Netherlands believed nudity and sexuality should be treated openly and without shame. It was considered normal in some circles for families to shower together nude, for children to see non-sexual nudity, and for naked people of different ages to appear in magazines, television, advertisements, and public spaces such as beaches, saunas, and campsites. Open sex education and sexual freedom were seen as signs of a modern, liberated society.
On ordinary public beaches, seeing several women sunbathing or walking topless was common well into the late 1980s and in some places even the 1990s. Open sex education and sexual freedom were seen as signs of a modern, liberated society.

By 2026, Dutch society is still relatively liberal, but public nudity is much less visible than during the 1970s sexual revolution. Topless sunbathing on ordinary beaches has become uncommon, and family nudity is generally seen as more private.
The media has also changed. In the 1970s and 1980s, nudity regularly appeared in magazines, television, and even TV commercials as something normal and non-sexual.
By 2026, mainstream media is much more cautious, and nudity in advertisements or regular TV commercials is now rare. Smartphones, social media, privacy concerns,
and stronger ideas about personal boundaries and consent all contributed to this shift.

Just curious, what does families that shower together have to do with red dye and mercury thermometers?

The alarm clock that there showing I’m still using that same one today
By Ananas2xLekker [Ignore] 13,May,26 12:04 other posts
I also have an alarm clock from decades ago, and I would be very sad if it broke.
By bella! [Ignore] 13,May,26 13:10 other posts
Is it strictly an alarm clock? For me, having electric operated clocks are just a pain in the butt….. there’s daylight savings time when we SPRING forward and FALL back and let’s not forget the occasional power surges that cause electric appliances to blink out if only for a moment. Yep, then all those darn clocks need to be reset so why even include an obsolete alarm clock in the mix? I use my phone. Heck, I just realized that if I rest my phone on its edge and sit it down going east and west, it transforms into what looks like a stand alone clock!
By Ananas2xLekker [Ignore] 13,May,26 15:30 other posts
It's not a mechanical clock, but a digital LCD alarm clock, with no radio, on one AA battery. I like it, because it makes no light, until you wave your hand over it. The alarm starts with a very soft beep every two seconds, that increases to two beeps, two louder beeps, ever increasing to louder and quicker beeps. It's really hard to find an alarm clock that wakes you up so gently. It changes automatically with daylight savings time and it follows the radio time signal station. I've had it for a long time, because it was the first of it's kind. It wasn't cheap either, but I treasure it.
By bella! [Ignore] 13,May,26 12:59 other posts
Dude, that’s not just an alarm clock, that is a CLOCK RADIO! And that clock radio has both AM and FM frequencies! Woo hoo! There was no talking to me when I received my first AM/FM clock radio and because I was the older one that had to share the bedroom with the younger sister (she is younger by 20 months), I picked the radio station we woke up to! Woo hoo! The perks of being the older sister!
"Things from the 70’s that no longer exist"

Calculators that way half a kilo, and can only add, subtract, multiply and divide,
also don't exist anymore. But that I think is progress.

I have several of the Texas Instruments machines. use a 9 volt battery. very reliable to this day and held near a am radio would play tones thru the radio.

They are highly appreciated by lots of people, but it's not something you always have with you. It has been ages since I used a handheld calculator. There is almost always a PC near me when I need to calculate stuff. If the calculation is simple, I use the calculator app. I always pick a keyboard that has the calculator button on it.
However, I use Excel more, because most of my calculations are more complicated
or there are just multiple of them, and I usually need to keep the results.

I think I have that actual model of clock radio in my collection. The 1 that I use that is setting here beside the computer right now, is from 1982. blue numbers instead of red Sounddesign brand Stereo clock radio! that mosquito truck appears to be a 67tru72 chevy step side pickup. I worked on those cig machines and loaded them at 1 time and when outlawed, had to go haul them all in. we tried converting them to sell condoms and toothbrushes and what not at motels but that didn't fly.
I loved the wood sided cars, so much more class than the wheeled washing machines people drive nowadays

In Miami, this morning, at BJs club, it was $4.14/gal. I pay $0.10/gal discount by using Capital One BJs credit card ($4.04). Regular gas stations are running @ $4.34+/gal.

we have several refinery's in this state as well. the extra cost is taxes, making Washington St one of the highest gas prices in the U.S.A.
$10.20 per US gallon in the Netherlands, last time I filled up.
I'm now driving at 50 MPG, in ECO mode, to compensate.

Tecsan, Dgraff, Phart, and all the others who said The Clown would be better than Biden or Harris? How about now. Is the highest inflation in years, the highest prices of gas in years, over 3% jump in the price of groceries in the last month is better?
You fools, you got snookered and the rest of us are paying the price. Thanks.

A real Christian would try to behave like Jesus.
"Feeding the hungry, caring for the sick, welcoming the stranger"?
The idea that “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle
than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.”?
Those kind of things are relevant to Mr Talarico.

The profile of Doris was referred to the Evaluation Panel for review on 29, April, reason; Illeg@l image. It took 4, almost 5 days to resolve the matter, however members decided that the ABUSE HAS NO GROUND.

On an aside, it was nice to see so many voters turn out to vote. Whether they voted to “DELETE THIS MEMBER” or “ABUSE HAS NO GROUND”, it still baffles me why the majority did not provide a reason to support their vote. Oh, well!

I can see links for it but. I have not attempted to use them. I am afraid these types of sites are my pet hate. We have all become accustomed to getting ‘stuff’ for free on the internet and see nothing wrong in downloading/watching copyright material on such sites.
By bella! [Ignore] 11,Apr,19 10:43 other posts
I hear what you're saying. Is it your belief that this website is doing something that is not legal?
By Andthisisme [Ignore] 11,Apr,19 11:09 other posts
I have not looked into this site but yes, that is what I am suggesting. If you can stream download a new or recent film at no cost I would suggest that the site is infringing copyright and hence what it is doing is illegal. Many of my friends have no problem with that, I am the weird one.
By phart [Ignore] 12,Apr,19 10:10 other posts
They may operate on the same prinicable that some stuff is on Youtube. It is posted for review, critcism, education and blah blah. Frankly,I have not paid to see a movie in 20 years.and don't intend to.If I can't watch it online or on tv,I just don't watch it.To much money is wasted over copyrights and all that other crap.if your actions, looks,or knowledge is worth so much to you that you can't share it to make a better world, keep it in your brain.
By Andthisisme [Ignore] 12,Apr,19 10:16 other posts
If everyone were to take you view then there is a very good chance that there would not be any film, music or book publishing industry. The people who create music, films and books do it for art maybe, but for a living and giving it away free is not viable.
Sadly sites that illegally allow music, filsma nd books to be downloaded cost free have made people expect everything for free. they would not rob a store but happily download a new movie that is copyright protected. They don't see that it is exactly the same.
However, I guess you totally disagree.
By phart [Ignore] 12,Apr,19 12:35 other posts
Not totaly but for the most part. What really burns me is the fact if I am standing on a street corner, and you take my picture, you can sell that picture for a profit.I get nothing, can do nothing to keep my face from being plastered all over hell.Because you would own the "copyright".But it is ME in the picture, but yet I have NO control.that is just not right.
As for movies, music, those people get a pay check for their work when it is done. once the movie is out, they have made their money,so why should they have further say or control or expect more money? Scratchs head on that.
By Andthisisme [Ignore] 12,Apr,19 12:47 other posts
The performing artists have their money, but what about the company that funded the project? On release they have a black hole of debt to recoup. The publishing company has paid an advance to the author to get the book. How do either recoup their money put up front if they cannot charge for people to see, hear, read the product?
By #578610 12,Apr,19 15:38
Sadly, I'm guilty of that too. I try to stay with Netflix, Prime, and a few truly legal and free ones but once or twice, when I wanted to watch some specialty movie and it was offered only on one of those sites wher you have to load the movie in 4 pieces (dead giveaway) I went ahead and did it.
